How do they work?

All models use a CO2 cylinder to inflate the unit

The manually activated only models are activated by pulling a ripcord.

Automatic units are the manually activated models with automatic backup systems use a water-activated bobbin which allows the unit to inflate within 5 seconds of submersion. Both models have oral inflation backup tubes.

What is the difference between the Automatic and the Manual models?

The automatic has a ripcord-activated inflator with a backup water-activated inflator that inflates the unit within 5 seconds of immersion.

The Manual has a manual ripcord-activated inflator only which has to be pulled in order for the unit to inflate.

What type of a backup system do the different models have?
All models have backup oral inflation valves.

Do you guarantee that the auto will go off?

The automatic inflator is designed to inflate the unit within 5 seconds of immersion, however, we do not want you to depend entirely on the automatic mechanism. The automatic should be used as a manual unit with the automatic as a backup system.

Why are inflatable vests better?

They provide more buoyancy than conventional foam and kapok PFDs so you head stays higher out of the water for easier breathing.

They are more compact when deflated, making them more comfortable to wear and less restrictive.

They put more buoyancy in the front so your body is rolled upright in the water when you fall overboard.

They support your head and neck, allowing you to breath more comfortably without struggling to stay upright.

They allow you to adopt the H.E.L.P. (Heat Escape Lessening Posture), which retains your body heat and delays the onset of hypothermia.

Where do I store my unit?

All new units come in a reusable, ventilated, zippered plastic bag that can be hung up in your boat. Do not put your unit in a confined area. Make sure it is in a well ventilated, dry area. If you are storing your unit for long periods of time, we recommend you disarm your unit. **ALWAYS CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOUR UNIT IS ARMED BEFORE DONNING.

What is the Impact rating?

Inflatables are not to be used for high impact activities. They should not be used in whitewater, with personal watercraft, while water-skiing, kneel boarding, or other high-speed impact sports where the user is constantly getting wet.

What is the manufacturers warranty?

A one-year warranty to the original buyer that the SOSPENDERS are free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal conditions of use and service for one year from the date of purchase.
